The more contemporary artists are: Delouche, the painter and graphic designer Georges Karleskind, Mattauch, satirical illustrator, Gérard Meyer, painter in watercolours or even Louis Wiederkehr (an expert in local history who wrote the historical part of this internet portal) who restored, inter alia, the chancel of Saint-Maurice’s church and of Notre Dame of Thierenbach*.
In addition to our well-known artists, an artist lies dormant in every inhabitant as the spring exhibition of amateur artists shows (if need be).
Our associations
Maybe from as early as 667 Soultz has always had a particularly active community life in the field of culture, arts, sport and rescue thanks to exemplary town management with its logistical and financial support, encouragement and participation and the development of training areas and meeting places. « La Vosgienne* », our gymnastics society is the second oldest in France alongside “Musique de le Ville”, also one of the oldest.
Community life is very varied, well organized and intense; there are 80 associations for 7146 inhabitants! Amongst them the 36 most representative and important ones boast 4000 members. Their umbrella organization is the OMECAS*.
